SPORTS IN TENERIFE

The first spanish golfcourse was built in Gran Canaria more than 100 years ago, but it's not untill recently that it has become very popular on the islands. New golfcourses are built many places, and the sport will be an important tourism attraction in the future.

Go-cart is another popular sport on the island. In the area of Playa de las Américas are two different go-cart-tracks that you can try out; the carting Canarias and the carting Club Las Américas.

Sailing is very important to the people living on Tenerife and the other islands, and many canarians are in the top class of international sailors. Good conditions for sailing and yachting can be found all over the island, and you can rent yachts or catamarans for day excursions or longer trips.

Other wateractivities like diving, deep-sea fishing, waterskiing and windsurfing can be found in many of the touristareas. If you prefer to stay on land you choose between a number of different activities, like for example tennis, cycling, hiking or climbing.
